National Council to prepare for 2016 ASEM gathering meets
Mongolia became a member of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2006, and since then it has actively participated in all initiatives and activities of this organization. The National Council meet today at Shangri-La Hotel to discuss Mongolia's hosting of the ASEM Summit next year.
The XI high level meeting of Asian and European countries will be held in July 2016, in Ulaanbaatar.
State heads of 51 countries, government leaders. Ministers of Foreign Affairs, management of international organizations, media, with a total of 5,000 guests and representatives, will participate in this meeting.
Participating countries will organize meetings and discussions regarding the expansion of political, economic, social, and cultural cooperation between Asian and European countries. Heads of State will organize meetings and reach decisions regarding the implementation of new projects, and the expansion of joint cooperation between nations in attendance.
The responsibility to organize the ASEM meeting falls on the National Council, which is headed by Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg. Five sub working groups have been established and are preparing for the meeting according to directions received.
At the ASEM Summit held in 2014 in Milan, Italy, heads of 53 states participated, along with Prime Ministers, officials and representatives from mass media, in total, more than 5,000 participated in the 2014 meeting.
